Because it’s about more …

Social responsibility

In a world characterized by constant change, it is crucial for companies and organizations to look beyond their own success and take responsibility for society.

Social responsibility means much more than just maximizing profits. It is an obligation to strengthen the community in which we operate and to have a positive impact on the environment and people. At sanitas, we see this responsibility as a fundamental part of our corporate culture.

Charitable projects

One of the key components of our social responsibility is supporting charitable projects. We believe that it is our duty to make a contribution and support those who are less privileged. We have therefore decided to actively work with various charitable organizations to bring about positive change in our community.

Protecting nature

In addition to supporting charitable projects, the protection of nature and the promotion of environmental protection are particularly important to us. We recognize the pressing global environmental issues and are determined to minimize our ecological footprint. This means that we are constantly looking for ways to make our business practices more sustainable. From reducing our energy consumption to using environmentally friendly materials and promoting recycling within our organization, our goal is to have as little impact on the environment as possible.

Social responsibility

Overall, social responsibility is more than just a buzzword for us. It is a central part of our corporate philosophy and identity. At sanitas, we believe that our success is inextricably linked to the health and well-being of our community and our environment. Our approach of supporting charitable projects and promoting environmental protection reflects our vision of a better world. Together, we can shape a sustainable future and bring about positive change that goes far beyond our own interests.

People and nature are at the heart of our environment and are therefore an integral part of our corporate philosophy. Our primary goal is to improve living conditions for people and to preserve our environment. Human dignity, ecological sustainability, fairness, solidarity and social justice are essential elements that determine our actions.

These important reasons have also prompted us to support the basic idea of the Economy for the Common Good. The aim of the Economy for the Common Good is to establish an ethical economic model. The well-being of people and the environment becomes the primary goal of economic activity.

As entrepreneurs, we have therefore always seen our social responsibility not only in the creation of jobs, but also in supporting people in need – in a wide variety of ways. The areas of education, health and the fight against poverty in the poorer countries of the world play a special role here. However, we also support charitable institutions and various organizations in our region. We also maintain close personal relationships with many projects.

Childrens Home in Emerald Hill (Zimbabwe)

We support the Missionary Dominican Sisters of the Order of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Zimbabwe, who are committed to helping people in need, especially children, in the spirit of “helping people to help themselves”.
In the “Childrens Home”, for example, many children find a kind of “extended family” again, where they have a home. The sisters have been running a boarding school in Emerald Hill since 1997, where they teach deaf-mute boys and girls.

Taking on a forest sponsorship with Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.

We have also taken on a forest sponsorship to help preserve the forest as a valuable ecosystem for us and our descendants. In this way, we are committed to protecting the last untouched forests and to forestry that preserves and values the diversity of the forest.

PLAN-Patenschaft

We are currently supporting little Jhinson as part of a PLAN sponsorship. He lives in the rural region of Cotopaxi, which is located in the north of the central Andes region of South American Ecuador. Cotopaxi is one of the poorest provinces in Ecuador. More than half of all children there live in poverty.

The impressive landmark of the region is the snow-capped volcano Cotopaxi, one of the highest volcanoes in Ecuador, along with the surrounding national park. Most families in the region earn their living from agriculture, fishing and livestock farming. Spanish and Quechua are the most widely spoken languages in the region.

Jhinson was born in October 2014. His father Segundo is a small farmer and his mother Maria is a housewife and also a small farmer. Jhinson lives in a small house with his two brothers, a sister and his parents.

The house consists of simple cement blocks with a roof made of corrugated sheets and a cement floor. The family draws its water from a water pipe in the yard and uses a pit latrine.

With this sponsorship, we support self-help projects that strengthen Jhinson, his family and his community. Our aim is to use this sponsorship to permanently strengthen Jhinson’s entire living environment and secure his livelihood in the long term.

In addition to this sponsorship, we also support PLAN’s girls’ fund. In many developing countries, girls are still disadvantaged, as school attendance or even vocational training are unfortunately often not a matter of course there.

Member of Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.

We are a member of the German Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union because we want future generations to have a planet that is worth living on, with a wide variety of habitats and species, good air, clean water, healthy soil and a maximum of finite resources.
